Some Other
by Tenille MCElrath

Dark planet, its rocky precipices rise
standing tall, painfully and starkly.
Pungent shadows fall from the skies
killing the distant sun, hovering darkly.
My pores fill with dust & sparkling despair.
I try to brush it off as I do the silence
that rings softly down through heavy air.
A soothsayer of past, long-forgotten violence.
I know I can’t stay--
wishing my time was done,
standing near mountains far away
under some other sun…
some other sun.
