Life is a Fairy Tale

by Gerald F. Heyder

I gaze through kaleidoscope at the colors of life.
I ride a blue horse on a carousel
going around and around to nowhere.
I see a rainbow in the sky,
but it’s gone in the blink of a saddened eye.
I see a movie about love and think of her
but she dumped me for another guy.
I dream an endless dream that seems to be reality
but it’s just a fatality in the real world.
I spin and twirl and everything is awhirl
until I stub my toe and the glow turns to pain.
The tears want to rain down my cheek and I bleat
like a sheep that is helplessly lost.
Life is a fairy tale, my friend, though never
quite real, just a deal that never ends!
