Music of the Spheres

by John Purcell

I was told
that the music of the spheres
was not loud at all,
but silent.

I learned
how to listen,
how to feel,
how to understand
by listening carefully
and by being silent
myself.

In this way
the music revealed itself
not to my ears,
for it was not external,
but internal:
I heard myself
sing.
