Spectral Definition
by Paul Truttman

Outer space embraces
a cold kelvin heart.
Near to absolute zero,
comets seeking warmth
blaze brightly,
trailing cosmic gases.

Starlight traveling
millions of years
through frigid clarity
diminishes as depth-bound
interplanetary dust
deflects its angular ray.

Try to ensnare
falling stardust.
Only in Hollywood
does Heaven open
to fill its vial,
apparitions appearing
as mere ghosts.
